Walk & Stay In Linlithgow, West Lothian
Linlithgow
The little town of Linlithgow has much to commend it for a day or afternoon out. Home to the impressive Linlithgow Palace and loch, the town also has a high street packed with individual shops and lots of character.
Dog Friendly Scotland recommends the following walk and, if you're in search of somewhere dog friendly to stay, then Glenavon House is close by:

Linlithgow Loch in West Lothan enjoys a pretty setting next to the small town of Linlithgow, approx 30 minutes drive from Edinburgh.
The circuit of the loch takes about an hour and for the majority of the time you and your canine companions are well away from roads.
As a bonus, you'll find the impressive Linlithgow Palace sitting next to the loch; well worth a closer look, the palace (now looked after by Historic Scotland) has played a significant role in Scottish history.
You can enjoy lovely views of the palace as you follow the path around the loch.

Glenavon House is a Scots Baronial style home nestled on the edge of the Historic burgh of Linlithgow. The ownersare pleased to accept two dogs in Glenavon's apartment which is situated in the west wing of the house.
The accommodation, over three floors, is fully self-contained and features a good-sized, fully fitted kitchen with oven and hob, fridge freezer and washer dryer. There is a kitchen table which seats four people. Upstairs on the first floor is a comfortable sitting room with a large flat screen TV and DVD player and a beautiful bathroom with cast iron bath and shower and a separate toilet. On the second floor are two good-sized bedrooms, one double and one twin-bedded.
The apartment comes with its own entrance and walled garden and there is a connecting door to the main house for those who prefer bed and breakfast.

Dog Days Out In Scotland

The Lands of Loyal is the ideal place to holiday with your doggy companion, situated at the bottom of the Alyth Hill, perfect if you like a walk with a panoramic view that's not too leisurely. If you prefer an easier walk there is a lovely shaded walk round the Alyth Burn which is a bit easier on the legs. After a walk you can relax by the fire and have a drink or have a meal in the bar with your dog beside you.
The dogs are allowed in the bedrooms, the hall and bar, the only place they are not permitted is the dining rooms. The hotel also has large gardens where the dogs are free to roam.
